Aban Ahmed, the youngest son of late gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed, died in a road accident on Thursday morning. The incident occurred on the Jhansi-Kanpur National Highway in Uttar Pradesh.
The car lost control and rammed heavily into a cement divider. The crash took place under the Poonch police station limits in Jhansi district.
High-Speed Collision on the Jhansi-Kanpur Highway
Aban was traveling from Prayagraj to Jhansi in a Creta car. He was heading to the Jhansi District Jail to meet his elder brother Ali Ahmed.
Police reported that the vehicle was traveling at high speed. The driver lost control, causing the car to crash directly into the road median. The impact completely wrecked the front portion of the car.
Aban Ahmed and his companion Sonu died from severe injuries sustained in the crash. Three other occupants inside the car suffered serious injuries. Emergency teams rushed the injured survivors to a local hospital for urgent medical care.
Police Launch Probe into Highway Mishap
Senior police officers arrived at the crash site shortly after the collision. Authorities secured the area and seized the damaged vehicle.
Police teams have started analyzing highway footage and statement logs from survivors. An investigation remains underway to determine if mechanical failure or speeding caused the accident.
Recent History of Tragedies Surrounding the Family
The accident marks another major tragedy for Atiq Ahmed’s family. In April 2023, Atiq’s third son Asad Ahmed died during a police encounter in Jhansi.
Just two days later, Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf were shot dead in Prayagraj while in police custody. Atiq’s remaining elder sons, Umar and Ali, are currently serving time in separate Uttar Pradesh prisons facing various criminal charges.
