Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) president Mayawati expelled former Rajya Sabha MP Ashok Siddharth from the party over charges of indiscipline and anti-party activities. Siddharth is the father-in-law of Mayawati’s nephew Akash Anand. The decision comes less than a year after Mayawati re-inducted him into the organization.
The former Uttar Pradesh chief minister announced the strict action on social media platform X. Mayawati stated that the party expelled Siddharth with immediate effect in the interest of the BSP movement. She firmly added that the party will never take him back in the future.
Deliberate Conspiracy to Distract Uttar Pradesh Campaign
Mayawati stripped Ashok Siddharth of his organizational responsibilities as the central coordinator for Odisha, West Bengal, and Karnataka. She highlighted that complaints regarding arbitrary ticket distribution and factionalism continued to surface from these states despite prior warnings.
Mayawati revealed that malicious reports concerning Siddharth’s return to Uttar Pradesh began circulating inside political circles. She termed these rumors a deliberate conspiracy to create confusion among party workers and derail the party’s campaign for the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly general elections.
The BSP supremo recalled that she had expelled Siddharth in early 2025 for similar indiscipline during the Maharashtra elections. She re-inducted him in September 2025 only after he issued a public apology and promised not to repeat his mistakes.
National Coordinator Randhir Singh Beniwal Also Ousted
Along with Ashok Siddharth, Mayawati expelled BSP national coordinator Randhir Singh Beniwal on similar charges of violating party directives. Beniwal, a resident of Saharanpur district, served as the in-charge for Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu and Kashmir.
Party leadership received reports that Beniwal neglected his responsibilities in poll-bound Punjab and instead focused on local political affairs in western Uttar Pradesh. Following his removal, Mayawati assigned Rajya Sabha MP Ramji Gautam as the party’s new in-charge for Punjab to oversee preparations for the upcoming assembly elections.
Policy Shift for Uttar Pradesh Office-Bearers
Mayawati clarified a key organizational policy regarding regional deployments. Senior party leaders and coordinators from Uttar Pradesh currently managing affairs in other states will not receive organizational roles back in Uttar Pradesh.
She cautioned party cadres to remain vigilant against mischievous elements trying to create factionalism. Mayawati urged media outlets to refrain from publishing unverified claims spread by political opponents.
