India will face Panama in a senior men’s international friendly at Bengaluru’s Sree Kanteerava Stadium on Friday, September 25. This match begins a demanding run of fixtures against teams that played at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The match, scheduled for 7:30 pm IST, will be India’s first senior international meeting with Panama. Previously, the fixture was planned for September 26 but was moved forward by a day. This was because of logistical considerations around the Bengaluru Marathon, which will use the stadium on September 27.

The match is also the first of three high-profile friendlies for India during the current international window. The Blue Tigers will next face five-time world champions Brazil on October 3. Additionally, they will play two-time world champions Uruguay on October 6, with both matches scheduled in Kolkata.

India Begin Three-Match International Run

India’s meeting with Panama gives head coach Khalid Jamil an opportunity to assess his squad. He can do this against opposition with recent World Cup experience.

The All India Football Federation has named a 26-player squad for the September-October international window. The team began its preparatory camp in Bengaluru on September 14 and will travel to Kolkata after the Panama fixture.

India’s squad includes goalkeeper Gurpreet Singh Sandhu, defenders Anwar Ali and Akash Mishra, midfielders Anirudh Thapa and Sahal Abdul Samad, and forwards including Manvir Singh, Rahim Ali, Ryan Williams and Vikram Partap Singh.

The squad also includes younger players such as Mohammed Sanan, Macarton Nickson and Ricky Meetei Haobam. This gives the coaching staff a mix of established internationals and newer options.

Panama Arrive After 2026 World Cup

Panama enter the fixture after competing at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

The Central American side were drawn in Group L alongside England, Croatia and Ghana. Panama lost all three group matches and did not score during the tournament, according to match records.

However, the Panama squad travelling to India contains considerable international experience.

LiveMint reported that 14 members of the squad were part of Panama’s 2026 World Cup group. Furthermore, several players have experience in leagues outside the country.

Panama are ranked 44th in the FIFA rankings, while India are ranked 138th in the latest rankings cited by the AIFF and Indian media reports.

The ranking difference provides context to the scale of the challenge facing India’s squad. However, a friendly does not carry competitive tournament points.

Panama are coached by Thomas Christiansen, who has led the national team since 2020.

First Senior Meeting Between India and Panama

Friday’s fixture will be the first senior men’s international between India and Panama.

The AIFF noted that Panama will become the eighth CONCACAF nation to face India.

India’s previous 14 matches against teams from the confederation have produced two wins, two draws and 10 defeats.

For India, the match also marks the return of the senior men’s team to the Sree Kanteerava Stadium. This comes three years after the Blue Tigers won the SAFF Championship at the venue.

The fixture therefore combines a familiar home setting with a new international opponent.

What Comes After Panama?

The Panama game is only the opening fixture in India’s busy international schedule.

After Friday’s match, India are scheduled to face Brazil at Kolkata’s Salt Lake Stadium on October 3.

Three days later, on October 6, they will meet Uruguay at the same venue.

Both Brazil and Uruguay participated in the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Consequently, the three matches give India a sequence of opponents with recent World Cup experience and provide the national team with a concentrated period of international competition.

For Jamil, the fixtures also provide an opportunity to assess players and combinations before India’s next competitive commitments.

Where to Watch India vs Panama

The India vs Panama friendly will be played at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru on September 25 at 7:30 pm IST.

The AIFF has confirmed that the match will be broadcast on the Sony Sports Network. Streaming will also be available through Sony LIV.

The match comes as India begin a three-game international stretch that will continue with Brazil and Uruguay in Kolkata.

Rather than being an isolated friendly, the Panama game is the opening chapter of a demanding international window for the Blue Tigers. During this period, India’s squad is set to face three teams that appeared at the 2026 World Cup.
