Kapil Sharma is returning to Netflix with the fifth season of The Great Indian Kapil Show. The new season will open with the cast of Drishyam: The Conclusion. The first episode will stream on September 26 at 8 pm. Moreover, new episodes will arrive every Saturday.
Ajay Devgn will appear alongside Shriya Saran, Ishita Dutta, Mrunal Jadhav, Jaideep Ahlawat and director Abhishek Pathak in the season premiere. The episode comes just days before Drishyam: The Conclusion is scheduled to reach cinemas on October 2.
Ajay Devgn Leads the Season 5 Premiere
The opening episode brings together the principal cast of the upcoming third film in the Hindi Drishyam franchise.
Devgn returns as Vijay Salgaonkar, while Shriya Saran reprises her role as Nandini.
Ishita Dutta and Mrunal Jadhav are also part of the returning cast. Meanwhile, Jaideep Ahlawat joins the franchise in a new role. Abhishek Pathak, who directed the film, will also appear on the show.
The episode is expected to combine promotion for the upcoming thriller with the comedy format that has defined Kapil Sharma’s Netflix show.
Ajay’s Kajol Joke Becomes a Highlight
A preview of the episode has already drawn attention to a conversation about Kajol and the Drishyam franchise.
During the interaction, Kapil Sharma joked about what might have happened if Kajol had been part of the first Drishyam film.
Devgn responded that the first film would not have been made. The exchange was presented as a joke about the franchise’s central mystery and the character of Vijay Salgaonkar.
Sunil Grover will also appear in the episode and is shown mimicking Devgn. Jaideep Ahlawat, meanwhile, joins Krushna Abhishek and Kiku Sharda for their Sona and Mona act.
More Celebrity Guests in Season 5
The Drishyam cast is only the beginning of the new season’s guest line-up. Netflix’s announced guests include Tamannaah Bhatia, Sidharth Malhotra, Shweta Tiwari, Anup Soni, Maniesh Paul, Zakir Khan and Pankaj Tripathi.
Cricketing figures Ravi Shastri and Sunil Gavaskar are also scheduled to appear during the season. Furthermore, the line-up indicates that the fifth season will continue the show’s mix of Bollywood, television, OTT and sports personalities.
