Official records tabled by the education department reveal that 611 primary and upper primary schools function out of temporary sheds, rented rooms, or open spaces. Among these neglected institutions, 10 are all-girls schools. Regionally, Jhalawar district recorded the highest deficit, with 23 schools lacking buildings in Aklera block, 16 in Khanpur, and 11 in Jhalrapatan.

Similarly, the state capital of Jaipur accounts for 38 building-less government schools, while rural blocks in Phalodi and Banswara report double-digit shortages. Consequently, hundreds of students must take daily lessons under trees or inside dilapidated structures.

Thousands of Schools Lack Basic Toilets and Drinking Water

Even among the 64,484 government schools that possess permanent structures, basic facilities remain severely deficient.

In fact, the state data shows that 2,047 schools lack functioning toilets, with tribal belts in Banswara, Dungarpur, and Udaipur recording the worst shortages.

Meanwhile, 1,049 schools operate without reliable drinking water connections, severely affecting children in Dausa, Udaipur, and Alwar.

Opposition leaders criticized these findings, pointing out that hygiene and safety deficits directly cause higher student dropout rates among young girls in rural areas.

Political Storm Intensifies Following Clashes Over CJP Audits

The admission of data follows days of escalating political confrontation over school inspections in Jaipur district.

Earlier this week, a CJP audit team led by co-convener Ashutosh Ranka faced physical attacks while attempting to inspect a dilapidated primary school in Rampura-Kanwarpura that was operating inside a cattle stable.

In response, the state education department issued a circular restricting unauthorized visitors and media crews from school premises.

However, CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke and opposition parties labeled the ban an administrative cover-up to hide severe structural negligence.
