Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel HD Kumaraswamy ignited a major political storm by launching a direct personal attack against former Congress President Sonia Gandhi. Party general secretaries clarified that there was no attempt whatsoever to disrespect or interrupt the national song during the ceremony.
According to the party’s official statement, Sonia Gandhi had merely gestured to organizers to bring a chair for 83-year-old Mallikarjun Kharge. He had been standing for an extended period under the hot sun.
