The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) cleared Mirzapur: The Movie ahead of its theatrical release. The film secured an ‘A’ (Adults Only) certificate. The runtime stands at 197 minutes and 19 seconds. That equals 3 hours, 17 minutes, and 19 seconds. The approval came with specific trims and dialogue edits.
Why CBFC Ordered the Trims
The censor board focused primarily on intimate sequences and vulgar language. The CBFC’s Revising Committee directed the team to reduce the impact of two intimate scenes by 50 percent. One scene appeared before the interval, and the other followed in the second half. The board removed roughly 35 seconds of sensual visuals and audio.
Language also saw adjustments. Officials muted cuss words at four places. They replaced abusive terms with milder alternatives at six points.
The panel altered dialogues such as “Galey se lag gar”. A term in the first half changed to “kamar”. In the second half, the slang was modified. The makers also revised a reference connected to caste.
Violence Left Untouched
The censor board left the action sequences intact. The franchise is known for raw gunfights and gory underworld drama. The CBFC did not ask for any cuts to the film’s violent portions.
Makers Say Tone Remains Intact
Sources close to the production dismissed worries about heavy censorship. They noted that the theatrical version cleared certification with limited alterations. The changes do not interfere with the director’s core vision. Fans will still get the raw, unfiltered experience on the big screen.

Gurmmeet Singh directed the film, with Puneet Krishna writing the script. Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar produced it under Excel Entertainment. Kassim Jagmagia and Vishal Ramchandani serve as co-producers.
The ensemble cast brings back Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, Divyenndu, Rasika Dugal, Shweta Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee, and Harshita Shekhar Gaur.
New and returning additions include Jitendra Kumar, Ravi Kishan, Mohit Malik, Sheeba Chadha, Rajesh Tailang, and Shriya Pilgaonkar.
