The Uttar Pradesh Food Safety and Drug Administration (FSDA) has launched a massive crackdown on adulterated dairy products. The intense inspection drive comes ahead of the peak festive season. Food safety officers found shocking adulterants used in making synthetic milk, khoya, and paneer. Hazardous industrial chemicals were being added to mimic genuine milk solids. In response, authorities have deployed flying squads across all major districts to protect consumer health.
Toxic Cocktails: From Detergents to Titanium Dioxide
Recent laboratory tests revealed dangerous substances in daily dairy items. Unscrupulous manufacturers blended detergents, refined oils, and talcum powder into milk and khoya.
Accordingly, the government officials also detected hydrogen peroxide, liquid glucose, and chemical surfactants. They even used industrial whitening agents like titanium dioxideto enhance product texture and shine.
These chemical additives artificially increase fat content and fool basic testing kits. Health experts warn that consuming such toxic mixtures causes severe digestive and kidney damage.
Thousands of Kilograms of Spurious Khoya Destroyed
Enforcement teams have raided several illegal manufacturing units in western and central Uttar Pradesh. In districts like Ghaziabad, Mathura, Bulandshahr, and Kaushambi, officers seized large stockpiles of fake dairy items. Authorities destroyed over 2,400 kilograms of contaminated khoya on the spot.
During the operation, officials seized large drums of vanaspati and skimmed milk powder. Samples were collected from hundreds of wholesale vendors and sweet shops for fast-track forensic analysis.
Strict Penalties, License Cancellations, and Border Surveillance
The state government has issued strict zero-tolerance orders against spurious food manufacturers. Officials confirmed that action will not stop at test reports.
Violators will face immediate license cancellations and criminal FIRs under strict legal provisions. Furthermore, the FSDA has set up checkpoint surveillance along inter-state borders.
This measure prevents adulterated consignments from entering Uttar Pradesh from neighbouring states. Mobile testing vans have also been deployed in crowded markets to verify dairy quality on demand.
