For generations of Indian engineering aspirants, physics preparation has been closely associated with one name: H.C. Verma. His two-volume Concepts of Physics became a familiar fixture on the desks of students preparing for competitive examinations. But the story behind the book began with a problem that Verma encountered while teaching students himself.
The problem was not simply a shortage of physics books. Students had access to textbooks, but many struggled to understand the language and presentation of books written by foreign authors.
