Samajwadi Party (SP) President Akhilesh Yadav has mounted a strong defense of dynastic politics, arguing that family-led leadership provides vital organizational stability. Speaking in Lucknow, the former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister stated that having five elected Members of Parliament from his family created an unbreakable core. He asserted that this internal unity protected the party from political poaching, external pressure, and central agency scrutiny.
Family Loyalty Protected Party from Engineered Splits
Akhilesh argued that family loyalty serves as a strong shield against political sabotage. He cited the political crises in Maharashtra as clear examples. In Maharashtra, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) successfully engineered splits in the Shiv Sena and the Nationalist Congress Party.
However, Akhilesh noted that the Samajwadi Party resisted similar attempts because its core leadership shares deep family bonds. These blood ties prevented internal rebellions, defections, and backchannel negotiations with rival camps.
Five Family MPs Won Decisive Public Mandates
Akhilesh pointed out that all five family members secured parliamentary seats through direct, tough democratic contests. In the 18th Lok Sabha, the family contingent includes Akhilesh Yadav from Kannauj and his wife Dimple Yadav from Mainpuri.
It also features his cousins Dharmendra Yadav from Azamgarh, Akshay Yadav from Firozabad, and Aditya Yadav from Badaun.
He emphasized that voters decisively defeated ruling party candidates in these five critical socialist bastions. Consequently, their victories reflect genuine public trust rather than backroom nepotism.

The remarks directly challenge regular attacks from the BJP and NDA allies, including SBSP chief Om Prakash Rajbhar, who describe the SP as a private family firm.
Akhilesh pointed out that the Samajwadi Party won 37 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh, emerging as the third-largest party in Parliament. He attributed this massive resurgence to the PDA (Pichhda, Dalit, Alpsankhyak) social coalition.
Furthermore, he stated that the ruling coalition targets the SP out of political anxiety ahead of the crucial 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.
