Prime Minister Narendra Modi met India’s Commonwealth Games 2026 athletes at his residence in New Delhi. He congratulated the players for making the nation proud in Glasgow. During the meeting, he shared a simple message: “Jo Khelega, Wo Khilega” (Whoever plays, will bloom). He said Indian youth are showing great talent on the global stage.

India finished fourth overall at the Glasgow 2026 Games. The team won 39 medals in total, including 13 gold, 17 silver, and 9 bronze. PM Modi noted that this haul was impressive because the Games featured only 10 sports this time. Key events like shooting, wrestling, and hockey were not included, making the victory even bigger.

Praise for Boxers, Runners, and Lifters

PM Modi spent time talking to individual athletes and coaches. He gave special praise to the Indian boxing squad. Boxers brought home 10 medals, including seven gold medals. PM Modi praised their hard work, discipline, and fighting spirit in the ring.

He also applauded distance runner Gulveer Singh. Gulveer became the first Indian track athlete to win two individual medals at a single Commonwealth Games. He won a silver in the 10,000 meters and a bronze in the 5,000 meters. PM Modi also cheered for the weightlifters and para-athletes who won under tough pressure.

Full Government Support for Future Champions

PM Modi said the government remains fully committed to helping athletes. Programs like the TOPS scheme provide top coaching, training, and funds to players across the country. He promised that young talent from every corner of India will get full backing.

Modi encouraged the athletes not to stop here. He asked them to stay focused and prepare hard for the upcoming Asian Games. PM Modi said their hard work inspires millions of kids across India to pick up a sport.
