Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini targeted the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Punjab on Sunday, alleging that drug addiction has increased across the state. Saini made these remarks while addressing a gathering at Kotkapura in Punjab’s Faridkot district.

The event marked the virtual launch of the 100-week nationwide ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan’ by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. PM Modi virtually addressed over one crore young people participating at 28,000 locations across India.

Saini Contrasts Haryana’s Crackdown With Punjab’s Failure

Saini claimed that the Haryana government successfully pulled young people out of drug addiction through active community engagement. He highlighted regular state initiatives like Raahgiri programs, Cyclothons, and marathons that keep the youth active and healthy.

In contrast, Saini alleged that the AAP government in Punjab failed to curb drug abuse or provide job opportunities. He stated that lack of employment is pushing Punjab’s younger generation into the trap of addiction. Saini added that both the current AAP administration and previous Congress governments made tall promises to youth and farmers but failed to fulfill them.

Promise of Haryana-Style Welfare Schemes for Punjab

Saini assured the people of Punjab that a future BJP government in the state would replicate Haryana’s flagship welfare schemes for youth and farmers.

He highlighted key agricultural initiatives currently running in Haryana:

  • Procurement on MSP: The Haryana government procures all 24 crops from farmers at Minimum Support Price.
  • Bhavantar Bharpai Yojana: The state compensates fruit and vegetable growers directly if market prices drop below fixed baseline rates.

Saini promised that Punjab farmers would receive similar direct benefits once the BJP forms the state government. He urged young people to recognize the destructive impact of addiction on families and work together toward a drug-free nation.
