Delhi University candidates have just hours left to fix errors in their applications. The university will close the correction window for its one-year postgraduate programmes for the 2026-27 session at 11:59 pm today.
Candidates who completed Phase I and Phase II registration can still edit their personal profile and academic details before the deadline hits. The university has urged applicants to check the admission portal regularly for any further updates, a reminder that has become standard practice across DU’s admission cycles. Who These Programmes Are Actually For
The one-year PG route isn’t open to everyone the way DU’s regular two-year postgraduate programmes are. These courses are reserved specifically for students who completed a four-year undergraduate degree under the National Education Policy (NEP) from Delhi University itself. Students who completed a four-year bachelor’s degree at another university, even one following the same NEP structure, are not eligible to apply.
That distinction also changes how admission works. Unlike DU’s two-year PG programmes, which run entirely on CUET PG scores through the Common Seat Allocation System, the one-year PG admissions are merit-based. Selection depends on the CGPA candidates earned across their four-year bachelor’s degree, along with any programme-specific eligibility conditions.
Where merit scores tie, DU applies a set sequence of tie-breakers. It first checks CGPA across the first seven semesters, and if the tie persists, moves back further to the first six semesters and then earlier ones still. If a tie survives even that, the university falls back on the aggregate percentage in the qualifying degree, and finally, on date of birth, with older candidates getting preference.
What the Revised Seat Matrix Shows
Alongside the correction window notice, DU released a revised seat matrix for these one-year PG programmes. The numbers offer a clearer picture of where the competition will be tightest this year.
Several popular programmes carry 49 seats each in the unreserved category. These include MA English, MA Political Science, MCom, MSc Computer Science and MSc Mathematics. Each of these seats sits on top of separate reservations for OBC (NCL), SC, ST, EWS and PwBD candidates.
The revised matrix also covers more specialised courses. MSc Biomedical Sciences, MA Applied Psychology, MSc Environmental Science and MSc Food and Nutrition all appear in the updated list, giving candidates in these niche programmes a clearer sense of their odds heading into allocation.
What Candidates Should Watch For
DU flagged one important caveat: seat numbers can still shift. The university said it will allot supernumerary seats according to its usual norms, so the final count in each programme may not match today’s matrix exactly by the time allocation rounds conclude.
Fee details vary by programme too. DU has asked candidates to check the respective department websites directly rather than assume a single fee structure applies across all courses. Candidates can also apply to more than one eligible one-year PG programme, but each additional application requires its own separate fee payment.
With the correction window shutting tonight, candidates lose their last chance to fix any errors before seat allocation moves forward. Anyone still reviewing their application should log in and make changes before the deadline, since DU has consistently treated this correction window as a one-time facility in past admission cycles, meaning whatever details stand at 11:59 pm tonight are what carry through to allocation.
