Prime Minister Narendra Modi hosted a breakfast meeting for around 45 National Democratic Alliance (NDA) MPs at his New Delhi residence on Friday morning. The gathering included newly aligned lawmakers who recently broke away from opposition parties, including the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT).
During the interaction, PM Modi offered personal reassurance to the lawmakers facing public criticism following their political realignments. He told the gathering, “Don’t worry about what is being said about you.
No need to worry, I am with you”. He emphasized that the NDA operates as a unified family where every constituent party and individual member will receive equal respect and support.
Direct Guidance on Parliamentary Conduct
Addressing the ongoing disruptions during the Parliament’s Monsoon Session, the Prime Minister expressed concern over frequent House adjournments. He noted that persistent uproar in the chambers deprives first-time parliamentarians of valuable opportunities to participate in debates and raise public concerns.
PM Modi advised lawmakers to avoid getting overwhelmed by chamber tension and to refrain from carrying parliamentary anxiety into public spaces. He urged MPs to present party viewpoints calmly, maintain dignity, and avoid hostile exchanges on television panels or inside the House.
Furthermore, he encouraged lawmakers to leverage digital platforms like X, Facebook, and Instagram to inform citizens directly about government welfare initiatives and youth sports programs.
Realignments in Opposition Ranks
The high-profile breakfast meeting comes on the heels of major structural realignments within state opposition factions. Former TMC lawmakers who broke away to form the Nationalist Citizens Party of India (NCPI) attended the session.
Similarly, rebel MPs who departed from the Shiv Sena (UBT) to join Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena faction were present at the Prime Minister’s residence.
Lawmakers attending the session described the atmosphere as extremely cordial. NCPI leader Jagdish Basunia noted that PM Modi’s focus remained steadfast on collective development and public welfare.
Meanwhile, senior parliamentarians like Sudip Bandyopadhyay highlighted that discussions centered on accelerating regional infrastructure projects, boosting connectivity in West Bengal, and prioritizing economic expansion across the North-Eastern states.
Advice on Health
Beyond core legislative strategy, PM Modi shared practical advice on personal health management for public representatives. He urged all MPs to undergo mandatory annual physical and mental health check-ups, emphasizing that public leaders need high fitness levels to manage demanding constituency workloads effectively.
The Prime Minister also reviewed individual performance reports detailing each MP’s digital reach and public engagement metrics.
He reiterated that the economic progress of West Bengal remains crucial to India’s overall growth trajectory, urging MPs from the eastern state to deepen their grassroots connections and build strong local networks.
